Privacy Policy

Guess The Lyrics has no accounts and no login. We do not ask for your name, and we never sell personal data. Your scores and streak live in your own browser, not on our servers. The only information you deliberately send us is whatever you type into the feedback form.

The game uses your browser’s local storage for three things: your games played, best score and streak; your preferred clip length; and your cookie choice. This data never leaves your device, is not readable by us, and is deleted the moment you clear your site data.

Feedback form. If you send feedback, we receive your message, the optional email address you provide, an optional star rating, and your IP address. It is delivered to the site owner by email and kept only as long as needed to act on it. Providing an email is optional and is used solely to reply to you.

Server logs. Our host records standard request information, including IP address and user agent, to operate the service and to rate-limit abuse. We do not build profiles from it.

Gameplay. When you submit a guess, the guess text and the target song title and artist are sent to our server so the answer can be checked. Guesses are not tied to any identity and are not retained as a personal record.

Apple iTunes Search API. Song previews and cover artwork are fetched from Apple. Your browser loads audio and images directly from Apple’s servers, so Apple receives your IP address as part of that request.

OpenAI. When our local matcher cannot decide whether a guess is right, the guess text and the song title and artist are sent to OpenAI to be judged. No identifiers are attached.

Google AdSense and Google Analytics. When advertising is enabled, Google and its partners may set cookies or read device identifiers to serve and measure ads. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this and other sites.

Vercel. The site is hosted on Vercel, which processes requests on our behalf.

We use Google Consent Mode. Advertising and analytics storage start in a denied state, and nothing personalised is set until you press Accept on the banner. Choosing Reject keeps the game fully playable; you will simply see non-personalised advertising instead.

You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser, which removes the saved choice and shows the banner again. You can also opt out of personalised Google advertising at google.com/settings/ads and manage third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to its processing. Because we hold almost nothing, the practical route is usually simple: clear your browser data to remove everything stored locally, and contact us to have any feedback message you sent deleted.

The game is suitable for a general audience but is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the feedback form, contact us and we will remove it.

Despite the name, this game does not display, store or reproduce song lyrics anywhere. Rounds use short audio previews supplied by the public Apple iTunes Search API, and answers are song titles.
